Why Work With Me?

I help developers and designers understand how people interact with their products, and how to improve them. My superpower is to drill down and really define the problem to be solved, the opportunity to be explored, or the question to be addressed. I select my methods of inquiry based on the definition we establish, the constraints I’m operating under, and the desired outcomes. I work collaboratively to devise innovative design changes, test them, and then share the results.

If you are a developer, the closer you are to your technology, the more you may lose touch with the people who would use it. I help you by using applied research methods and visualizations to show you what your end users want and need. I can also represent the voices of end users on your development team.

If you are a UI or UX designer, you want clear, simple representations of the needs and desires of end users. I help you by testing your designs, exploring how people use them, and giving you just-in-time feedback on what's working and what isn't.

My skills

I have experience with a variety of research methods including: interviews, survey methods, focus groups, usability studies, field studies, participant observation studies, heuristic evaluations, competitive analyses, liberating structures, system usability scale (SUS) analyses, and data log analyses. I have also developed a new rapid technology evaluation process and modified an existing participatory design method to suit the needs of my clients.

I have led teams in providing services in design thinking, visual design, video design, design for accessibility, universal design for learning, learning experience design, and user experience research.

I have a deep knowledge of the technologies used for learning, and how people teach and learn. I am an empathic decision-maker with strong organizational skills, communication skills, and a keen eye for connecting insights from research to product designs and strategies. I communicate complex ideas simply and elegantly so that they are easy to understand.
